HIV/AIDS death toll in Banten reaches 86

Antara, 17/09 - Over the past eight months of 2010, 86 HIV/AIDS patients in the Indonesian province of Banten have died. They were part of 1,700 HIV/AIDS patients in Banten Province, chairman of the HIV/AIDS Eradication Commission-Banten Chapter Arief Mulyawan said.

"The total number of HIV/AIDS patients in Banten has increased from 1,684 to at least 1,700 people this time," he said. Mulyawan said majority of the HIV/AIDS-infected residents was women. However, the final figure could have been known by October.
