24 Provinces Rabies Endemic

Kompas, 16/09 – Director of Vector Born Diseases Control, Ministry of Health, Rita Kusriastuti said that at the moment, Indonesia has 24 rabies endemic provinces. East Nusa Tenggara and Bali which were used to be free from rabies, are now having the high number of cases. In 2008, the MOH recorded 20,926 rabies carrier cases with 104 of them died. In 2009, there were 42,106 cases and 137 fatalities, This year, until August, there had been 40,180 cases including 113 fatalities.
